Sorry, I should have added this too.  If the hardware were fried, you would
probably be seeing much more damage and not get a boot.  Since phone and
power come in on separate lines, it is possible, and likely, that only one
was affected.  It may be that when the computer got the hit, it may have
merely corrupted a few files during the crash.  With the modem being on
Appletalk, and all of a sudden it is zapped, Appletalk or the Chooser might
just be your culprit files.

Of course, that may not explain why both OS's (which I assume are on
separate disks)  respond the same way.  Any thoughts out there?
