I wonder if its possible that our ram has also merely leveled off to where it should be (OK, maybe a little low but I'm not complaining) in comparison to pc 100 ram and similar? We've known for years that we were paying way too much for ram, more like getting ripped off if I say so myself. And while there are a few companies still using the old rhetorical 'Ram Prices Are Going Up Soon' method of getting you to buy now, maybe our ram has finally reached where it should be in the first place?
When people are seeing comparable sized ram for different types of computers for much cheaper, I would think this will tend to control costs for ours because we hold off on spending. We feel cheated. Not many people went out and bought ten sticks of ram at the $150 each range. Heck, buying one 64mb stick was a good hit financially for me back then. I just found one of my receipts for a 32mb stick from Club Mac ($70). In hindsight, what a rip-off. The companies made a killing on Ram. Sure, it was more expensive to manufacture back then, but they had us by the 'scsi cables' and the knew it. But now ram prices are low all over for new systems. Heck, now they throw in over 500 mbs for free. This becomes a factor because people are deciding to buy new systems instead of our series using this 168 pin. It's economics. It's becoming cheaper to buy a new computer and inexpensive ram. It's controlling the market. Why buy the old ram? And now they've got tons of it and it won't bare the high prices any longer.
