David, I'll take a shot on this....
The Plain PC looking icon is a clue that the disk is using a
different driver then the Mac Iomega driver. I've seen this on my
SCSI Zip drive when either they are PC formatted disks which I bought
that way or when I formatted for PC/Dos for PC file backups. It's
been awhile and the extensions and control panels have changed names
over the years. I just checked things and my guess is that...You
should open the 'File Exchange' control panel and make sure that "Map
Pc extensions to the Mac OS file types on the PC disks " is checked.
There used to be another control panel in older OS's but it seems to
now be gone.Does anyone know if there is another control panel or
extension David needs?
I'm wondering if the ATA/IDE Zip drive may format disks as PC even if
you check the Mac format box? It may need Apple roms or something to
format as Mac?? I have used PC zip disks with no problems. Mac files
etc transfered to them no problems. Try the above and let us know how
it goes. Will S
