Aughenbaugh is right. Using the bundled disk didn't cripple the drive, it simply erased the Windows or Mac partition (whatever the case was). The early Zips were just like the early Jaz drives, later versions came with the CD-ROM.
Off topic. Kind of hard to believe that Zip disks have been around so long. They were gaining popularity just as CD-ROMs started to take off.
