Here's what I have: UMAX c600 upgraded to 280MHz G3 144MB RAM OS 9.0.4
Today I removed a Keyspan SXPro 4-port serial PCI card because I'm back down to two serial devices (modem & digital camera) and needed to put back in an ethernet card. I also have a video card and a USB port card installed, so the PCI slots are full. Now the on-board serial ports, which were just fine before, are behaving strangely. I could not get the modem to respond in either port. I unchecked the Keyspan extension, but there was no change. Then I ran Tech Tool (1.5; it came with the c600). The modem port tested fine, but upon restart the same thing happened again. Through trial and error I determined that merely going into Tech Tool and clicking on the serial port tab establishes communication with both ports without even running the test. I have zapped PRAM and reset the CUDA switch. No change. Has anyone run into anything like this? I would rather not have to start Tech Tools every time I want to use a serial port. I also don't have room to put the Keyspan card back in, and the digital camera has to use one of the on-board ports anyway. Thanks for any suggestions. -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
