There is an OT 2.6 Updater that Apple distributed which updated the 2.5.1 or 2.5.2 versions of OT that came with OS 8.6. Problem is the installer only allowed updating OT on late model Apple machines (G4, iBook, iMac). I recall, when I ran OS 8.6 on my S900, that I would extract newer OT components (among other things) and manually install them on my 8.6 system. Never had a problem either. But having said that, better advice would be to install OS 9.0.4 and you'll have OT 2.6.1, as well as other things, like iTools capability, which OS 8.6 never had.
