Thank you to all who gave advise on my sons soundless C600. After many tweaks I have come to the conclusion that the sound function on the motherboard is fried. So I set out to find a sound card that may have fit a PCI slot, it seems a Sound Blaster for Mac may work, but when checking price (just missed Frys blow out @ $29 after blowout) and found the better part $60 would be needed to purchase such an item !
On a whim I checked the price of a S900 and bingo $ 80 including a 4 gb hard drive - why bother with fixing the old C600. So it's a 2 S900 family. Now to pick a G3/G4 card ??? Can others provide some feed back on what cards are in favor ? Will soon have the remains of a sick C600 on hand, please contact off list if interested. Again thanks for all the support and help.
