Hmmn, I don't play that much with audio apps so I can't offer much help
there other than a G4 will usually give nearly double the speed when
encoding MP3s under iTunes, but you're talking high-end digi-audio apps so I
don't know much about their performance issues. I'm sure though that with
your healthy portion of RAM and lean system, your better bet for now at
least would be to max out the processor to a faster G4 but I couldn't give
you the lowdown on the percentages. Check out www.xlr8yourmac.com under
their 'Rate your upgrade' section to see if which work best and give the
results you want.

The iPod question is a little different. Check out this site:

Scroll down to the bottom and there should be the answer to your question.
Apparently there's some issue with non-powered firewire ports. I honestly
don't understand why this should be such an issue being that most of the
people I know who have PCI firewire cards already have G4s and just need to
add more ports.

Hope it helps,

Seth
