The biggest problem I've seen on this list regarding installation of brand new Systems, is the loss of CD drive function. The new System will install a corresponding Apple CDROM driver which won't drive the Matsushita drive UMAX used. With that in mind, and with backing up your stuff also in mind... go for it.
