Hi all you Supermacers!

I realize this is an OT post, but I have found this list to be
exceptionally toleratant and also exceptionally broad, therefore I'm hoping
for a pointer to some other ore appropriate place to get help.

First off, lemme explain that I've got a house full of Macs, everything from
a 128K original to a G4 tower and most stuff in between. Of course the
reason I'm on the SM list is due to the S900 and J700 I have :-) Currently
my kids are using slot-loading iMacs, so I've got 5 of them in the house.

In a nutshell, I've a problem with a slot-loading 400MHz iMac. All of a
sudden, it wont startup. When applying power to the machine, the screen
stays dark, I can hear the disk attempt to spin up for about 2 seconds, and
then click click click click. That's it. No chime.

It sounded to me like a crashed hard drive, so I replaced that with a brand
new one. Same problem. I tried unplugging everything from the IDE controller
(DVD rom and hard drive), same problem. I tried removing and swapping DIMMs,
same problem.

I'm thinking maybe there is a power supply problem here, but don't know
enough about these machines.

I'm looking to the list for a tip on where I can go to find folks
knowledgable about the HW on these machines. Perhaps someone can give some
tips about where I can check the votltages on the power supply, or any other
suggestions.

Anyway, sorry to bother you with the OT post, but I'm hoping for a coupla
good tips from some knowledgeable folks.
