Hi Alan,

I'm not familiar with how to go about with Communicator, but in Eudora and
Outlook Express, this is accomplished by creating new 'personalities' or
'accounts' from within the email client, one of which can be set up as the
'default' or 'dominant'. With these two, selecting which account or
personality can be done while connected, but can get confusing unless you
use AppleScript scripts to control it[recommended for both, though each have
their own quirks], or create separate identity files and re/launch the
application from these each time you wish to switch[keeping address books
synchronized could be a bother this way; also, your Internet Preferences
could get quite confused rather quickly]. In short, either OE [or Entourage]
and Eudora are designed to handle this situation well.

IIRC, the last I used Communicator [ca. 1998], AppleScript support was quite
good and may be the way to accomplish what you want. I have no idea if this
is still the case.

HTH,
