I have taken the OSX installation process (via XPF) to the point where I get a black screen with white and yellow scrolling messages. The final message reads as follows:
Patched IOSCSICD Driver SCSI bus reset recovery complete Still waiting for root device And there it sits, scrolling away, making endless retries. The "root device" never manifests itself. Next step? Well, obviously, I try to boot from the OS9 CD (since it is quite impossible to awaken the 80MB IBM HD attached to the Ultratek66 card (I've even removed the card now). But my OS9 CD cannot be accessed. The drive clicks and whirrs, flickers briefly, and then dies. Nothing can be accessed. It is as if the partially installed OSX has hijacked/disabled my startup system, making it impossible to boot from anything except itself, whereupon it simply keeps repeating the eternal "waiting for root device" message and the retry loop. Yes ... I've done all the required zapping, and even the dreaded voodoo dance ... It makes no difference. In other words, my S900 is a dead parrot. What can I do now to resurrect it, and (less importantly) why won't OSX install completely? Adrian O'Sullivan (PS As recommended, I removed the Radeon 7000 prior to installation, and I'm running off a TT128 card for the time being ... So there's no conflict there). -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
