your post asking about bending the posts led me to belive you had one 
of the rare machines with jumper pins already installed. It seems 
that is not the case.

You will likely get different answers from different people. I 
recommend the software fix for most people. Mad dog and Jeff W are 
not regular Mac users but Hardware and soldering Gurus ;-) Will S
