I don't think that iTunes will use the analog cable. It's totally digital
playback AFAIK. The Apple CD player software will make use of the audio
cable though. My guess is that the c500 doesn't have enough horsepower for
digital playback. My g3 300 upgraded S900 can barely hack it.
