You can probably pick up a realtek 8139 for about 10-20$ or even less.
works under os 9 w/drivers.  it's not nessecarily a 'good' NIC, but it is
definitely cheap and works reasonably well.  i'm using one in my j700 and it
has held up for about 2 years without any major issues.
