The S900 is a member of the PowerSurge family (x500, x600 machines).
The PowerSurge family uses the custom Apple Hammerhead memory
controller chip and the custom Apple Bandit PCI controller chip. The
fuctionality of those two chips (really four if you add in the two
Data Path chips) is all rolled into the Grackle chip.

So, yes, they're different. However, there may be similarities in
their operation and features. After all, both the Grackle and the
Hammerhead/Bandit combination must support the same ARBus and PCI
specifications. ARBus is Apple's name for the memory/CPU bus.

The difficulty in figuring out whether the Apple chips support these
features is that being custom Apple chips, there's no public
documentation available on their low level features and abilities.
