a -199 error is: -199 mapReadErr Map inconsistent with operation You say "on the OS 8.1 drive it says ...." I would suspect your hard drive is full. You need to run something like DiskWarrior to clean up the directory of the drive and then maybe see if there aren't some "temp" files taking up space-- to delete.
