Greetings! My wife is using my old C500 as her main computer, but I've been toying with the idea of dropping a big IDE hard drive into it and using it for backups and general file-serving as well. Is it the case that most any regular IDE drive can be put into it? And is there any point to getting a fast IDE drive for it?
Also, can one put an IDE CD-RW drive into the C500 and burn CDs, or would it need a firewire card and a firewire drive? It'd be wonderful to pick up an inexpensive internal CD-RW and an ethernet router so that I can back up my pismo onto CDs and perhaps burn the occasional disk full of my MP3s. However, the C500 presently has an ethernet card and a video card, neither of which I'm willing to give up for a firewire card. The reliable old machine has 88 Mb of RAM and is running 8.6 right now, if that makes any difference. Regards, Brian Burge-Hendrix -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
