Let's see if I am understanding correctly, here. You're saying that a DIMM that had 4K refresh instead of 2K would show up as half the correct size? If I put such a DIMM in my c500, it would increase the total RAM by only 32 megabytes rather than 64 megabytes? My c500 has 16 megabytes soldered permanently to the motherboard, it has a 16-megabyte DIMM in one slot, and a 64-megabyte DIMM in the other. This makes a total of 96 megabytes, which is exactly what both "About This Computer..." and the Memory Control Panel report. What I think I understand you saying is that if the 64-megabyte DIMM was a 4K refresh rather than a 2K refresh unit, then it would only add 32 megabytes to the reported memory size, and I would be seeing a total reported memory size of 64 megabytes instead of 96. Is this right? I'm wondering about the possibility that I got FPM rather than EDO DIMMs. I remember being told that FPM DIMMs had a chance of not working, where EDO DIMMs were almost certain to work. I can and have verified that these DIMMs are 64-megabytes in size, because that's how much one of them adds to my system's memory. But there's not any obvious way to verify that these are really EDO and not FPM. The actual RAM chips thereon are 4C4M4E8-6Z chips, and there are 32 of them. These must be 2-megabyte chips, and perhaps if I had some reference on them, it would tell me that these are EDO chips or FPM chips. Perhaps after I send this, I'll do a web search on that string, and see what comes up. -- -- "Under no circumstances will I ever purchase anything offered to me as the result of an unsolicited e-mail message.
