X supports SCSI pretty well in my experience. My old mouse and keyboard
work fine too. My wife has a new USB keyboard on her 7600 running 10.1,
and it works fine too.
Printing is another story. My big disappointment with X. I'm spoiled by
my Epson driver (OS 9) that gives me lots of options, lots of
flexibility in choosing media, etc... I can't use my serial printer
anymore and an Epson SP 1200 I'm borrowing (w/USB) doesn't work in X
either. There is the possibility of using GIMP print, but I'd have to
learn a little more about it.
I have to boot into 9 to do any printing on my machine, as Classic is
unaware of hardware. I bought my wife a Canon BJC 2100 printer for $25
new that works very well in X, though. With a cheapo USB card.
