Well it does sound like your drive could be on it's last legs. If it's
a W.Digital. 2gb or worse yet the Micropolis(spelling) any size your
lucky it lasted this long! Some people like me were lucky and got a
Quantum drive. They seem to mostly last forever by computer standards.
If you had Disk Warrior or Norton Utilities and it's not one of the
drives from hell listed above you might be able to fix it. But unless
you can borrow the above software you'd at this point be better off
buying a new drive. Yes. any IDE/ATA drive should work fine in your
C500. IDE drives are cheap these days and large in size. Office
Depot,Staples,Fries etc are often one of the best places to buy
these.Sunday paper usually have ads from these stories ands others
unless you live in a smaller town. I just bought a Seagate 40 GB drive
at my local fries for $69.99. Larger then I really needed but the price
was right. I've found that the drives come setup to use as a single
drive so should go right in and use Apple Drive setup not the old FWB
that came with the C500. Best of luck, Will S
