I ride a lot and used to race off road/road and worked in a bike factory (small). Needless to say I've got bikes. Sounds like that bus of yours would make a great mountain bike road trip mobile... On other matters, I've found that Disk Warrior is a great utility to bring things back... It even works with OS X. If your drive is toast, check out the inexpensive 9 Gig SCSI drives at OWC...
