What cards are list members using? How well are they working for you?

Dan -
Although they are out of business, I've been using the MachFire card from
XLR8.
It resides in Slot #3 in my S900 and all drives, internal and external, are
formatted with HDST.
The external drive is a EZQuest 60gb (7200 rpm.)
One discovery I made, and this may not apply to all systems/cards
combination, is no matter which slot I placed the MachFire I was getting
system freezups during data transfer that required a force restart.
After much head scratching I realized it just ain't possible to allow
maximum throughput in any slots.
Using HDST's control panel for the firewire drive setup, I dropped the
settings down (there are two) one notch from optimum and have not had any
freezups since.
Since the external firewire is for backing up, I have no need for blazing
speeds.
As for reduction in read/write speeds, it seems adaquate for me but I am not
in the habit of doing performance measurements.
Anyway, just wanted to mention this so nobody automatically assumes it is
PCI card slot juggling time when there is a problem.
Hope this helps,
Alan.
