sounds like an over heating problem., at the fornt of the umax case directly below the mic & head phones socket, under that area is the main air intake for the umax, check it ain't full of dust bunnies. power the system down, then on the psu where ite air goes in, slots in the metal case, check they are clear, if not use a tooth brush. my umax is about the same age, but it is fully loaded. 2cd drives 3 or 4 18gb hard drives, 640mb optical drive floppy drive adaptec scis card fire wirecard extra network card ati 7000 graphics card usb card graphics capture card. been like that for about 1 year. i did blow the psu about 2 days ago, but it was down to incorrectly rated components in the psu. ( changed 1 resistor and it was as good as new) they use carbon film resistors .25 w (cheap), when they should use .5w or .75w, but hay 6 years aint bad. anyway to finish off, on the inside of your 900 behind the mic/phones socket, is a place for an extra fan, just stick one in ( it clips in place) i did it about a week ago, cos im in china and the background temp is about 30 deg c. steve -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
