Hi all ! Anyody from the UK ?
I have recently bought
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&i
tem =2046539164
After opening the case and recovering from the
sight of the innards (the dirtiest computer
interior I have ever seen) the examination
discovered:
On the front cover: Umax Pulsar
On the back: Model H7VO T
A sticker on the back:
UMAX support hotline: www.imcnet.com
Inside:
2x CPU ( 250Mhz + 200MHz, try that, Intel )
144 MB RAM
On the motherboard:
UMAX COMPUTER CORP
STORM SURGE
Expansion cards (from top to bottom):
* Some kind of riser card with a RJ45 connector
(marked 10BaseT),
a connector which looks like a very small
Centronics (marked AAUI) and two small round
sockets which look like the serial sockets on a
SUN IPC/IPX (I think those are printer ports)
It has "APOLLO" printed on it (USE-APOLLO REV.B)
* SKU: E100 Extended Performance Card (The SCSI
seems to be unused but the Ethernet works)
* Card with "SCII Telecom" printed on a sticker
RJ45 and another, narrow connector.
Apparently an ISDN card (ominously, the first
"partition" is called ISDN :-). Alas, the
company is out of business.
* Video card with ATi 3D RAGE II + DVD on the
chip

Anybody on the list has experience with
installing Linux on a thing like this ?
Would it be possible (I didn't say wise ! :-) to
run OS X on it ? The newest Darwin (6.0.1, the
equivalent of Jaguar) claims that SCSI CR-ROMs
don't work :-(
I don't intend to upgrade the CPUs. It's a dual
processor, after all :-)
