I had some papers on doing this with a IIci. A google search for 
'Macintosh [insert CPU model here] monitor pin outs' should bring up 
the relevant info. You only need to short two pins on most (all?) 
models. A bent paper clip with some heat shrink tubing on it does quite 
nicely.
