The Acard ATA/IDE 66 works fine and without drivers in 8.6-9.1 and OS X. It's cheap now, and there's no need for a faster controller card in older machines like the J700. Mine works fine with two ATA drives (13 and 30 GB) and a Lite-On CDRW drive, and it works in the lower slots of the S900.

But it's much more expensive and I suppose it will only work in the two inner slots of the J700. http://www.eshop.macsales.com/Catalog_Item.cfm?ID=4798&Item=STIT133FWU2M HTH, Chrisso > Hi... > > I'm looking to add an ATA controller in my J700, so I can add some > cheaper storage to the machine.
