I replaced my C500 OEM HD  with an IBM 40GB, 7200RPM Deskstar 120GXP 
from www.newegg.com (now $89).  The drive is plug and play with the 
jumpers already set. You pop the top of the C500. Diconnect the 
drive, noting which way the power plug and data cable fit . There is 
one screw on the right hand side of the HD in the C500 and that 
loosens the HD sled to which the drive is attached. Remove that and 
then take the old drive off and replace with the new drive. HTH.
