I have the same problem with Ethernet under OS 9.x I have tried 3
different Ethernet cards same problem with all 3... an Asante 590, SMC
fast Ethernet and an old card no longer made(can't remember brand Dyna
something...) I have my J700 networked with a PC for file sharing.
Everything works fine when hooked up to the on board Ethernet which is
10 mbs. When hooked to any of the above cards at some point the file
transfer fails. This is when set to auto sensing and full duplex. I
tried everything....it works when set to half duplex which is 10mbs.
Big deal I already have that with the built in Ethernet. I tried
different slots didn't seem to matter. To my surprise all three cards
work fine at full speed in OSX. I don't even need the Ethernet
crossover cable . It works through my router which I have for sharing
my Cable Internet broadband. That didn't work for file sharing at all
in OS 9.x I have no answers other then to say I couldn't get it to work
either. Best of luck perhaps someone else can help. Will S
