        Robyn - tried what you suggested. Changed slot, changed IDE cable, 
jumpers are set right to single mode. Still no go, tries to boot up for 
about fifteen seconds, then gives up and boots into OS 9. The 
partitions mount OK on the desktop in OS 9 and OS X.
