It works. Why I don't know.

I disassembled the beast,removed the battery, and took the mobo out of 
the case in preparations for possible cuda surgery. I went over the 
traces around the cuda and surrounding area with a lupe and saw no signs 
of damage on either side of the board. Decided that my soldering skills 
were probably not equal to the task of replacing the cuda. Hooked up the 
PS and a hard drive and booted the machine. The mouse moved in the grey 
screen before MacOS loads. It moved in MacOS. It moves now. Same 
software, same hardware, same setup.

Conclusion: cuda voodoo
