I actually got into this about a month ago and bought a USB 2.0 CDRW. We have the same 
compatibility as any other Mac. At this time there are no drivers for anything before 
OS X so if you want to use one of these devices on OS 9.xxxx it will operate as a USB 
1.1 device even if you have a 2.0 card installed. OS X is still another issue. OS 
10.0.3 through 10.1.5 recognize USB 2.0 devices automatically if you are using a 2.0 
card, but in Jaguar OS 10.2xxxx a USB 2.0 device will not even be seen unless you get 
the drivers off the internet--- I got mine from Orange Micro and they work great.
