It cracks me up to see these called American threads ;-) As we are
using the old English standard which the UK used until they went
metric. America isn't likely to go metric in my lifetime. I guess
because we are a large country and it hard to push this many people
around with new ideas . No matter how good they are.
I just happen to have a J700 laying on the floor in pieces. I was
lucky enough to be given it by a local list member who wanted to get it
out of the house! So I pulled a screw out of the front flat mounted
hard drive. It is 1 inch long = 2.5 mm
I will defer to Jeff's #6-32 as I don't have a screw measuring device
at hand.
I'm surprised hard drives haven't gone metric given the world wide
market. perhaps there is a metric size that will fit...? Will S
PS. In the US stores carry both metric and what is called standard
screws
