A few things to try... - activate the control panel "File Exchange", it'll help with those PC files. You should be able to drag those files from the floppy onto your hard drive where you can open and convert them. - download Apple CDROM extension 5.3.1 and install it to see if it gets your CDROM working. Get it here... http://www.macdrivermuseum.com/disk.html - download Graphic Converter to see if it'll open those JPEG's, from here... http://lemkesoft.com/us_gcabout.html Unless you get an IDE controller card, you should look at sticking with SCSI CDROM drives.
