Bill;

      I need to ask a question somewhat related to Bill's question. I
have now a CD with Norton Utilities 5 for Mac and I believe that the
CD playe rdoesn't recognize the CD disk for some reason. I can use
all the utilities/tools just can't launch from the CD- which means I
can't use Speed Disk. I have selected Norton as the Startup disk and
when I boot up it starts out with an image of a blank diskette and
after a few seconds the computer switches over to system 8.6 on the
hard drive. I have tried launching while holding down the command,
option,shift, delete keys and that didn't help. I used all the
utilities and my fragmentation is severe. Any suggestions short of
replacing the hardrive the original 1.9 GB Matwhatever.
