This is not fully true. While Apple does not support USB 2.0, the OS 
*is* capable of 2.0 speeds. As it stands right now, you must use the 
drivers that came with the USB card to enable 2.0 speed. Otherwise it 
will work at only 1.1 speed. OS9 'could' be made to work with USB 2.0, 
but no one has made the appropriate drivers and it doesn't look like 
anyone is going to, at least not soon.

As proof, I have been running an IOGEAR USB 2.0 card for months now. It 
works just fine under 10.2 (I had already upgraded past 10.1.5, but it 
should work) at both 2.0 speed (Maxtor USB HD) and 1.1 speed.

Much like our beloved UMAX machines, just because Apple says so, 
doesn't mean that it won't.
