The first thing to point out is that I haven't tried the power-on adapter myself, as I make my own. And I'm not the one who originally found it; I just re-pointed it out. However, I think the person who originally posted it to the list did try one out. I just can't remember who that was. >The ATX >adaptor cable does feature the same connectors as my >S900 powersupply but there is an extra 10 pin >connector and the small 3 pin cable looks like it is >wired differently (of course I am just going off of >the color coding of the wiring which may be completely >irrelevant). The wire colors vary. They even vary somewhat from S900 power supply to S900 power supply. The important thing is their position in the connector. >As far as the 300w ATX psu is concerned it looks like >a standard ATX power supply with a couple of extra >connectors to conform to the Umax GPX(?) standard. The signals in the standard 20 pin ATX connector are the same as the signals used in the S900 power supply. They're just run to a different type of connector. The adapter takes the signals from the 20 pin connector and arranges them properly in S900 style connectors. Go to http://www.io.com/~trag and get the file Umax_ATX_PS.sea.bin . Look this over for more explanation. However, I should mention that I now believe that the "20 pin Mini-Fit BMI plug housing (WM3616-ND)" which I mention is the wrong connector. I think that part number is actually a "Micro-Fit BMI" which has a different pin pitch from the Mini-Fit BMI. >Anyone have any practical experience with the Power-On >items? Hopefully, the original poster of the cable info will respond. Jeff Walther -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
