Sure, NOW. I bought my S900 brand new on eBay for $200 2 years ago. What
were G4 400s going for 2 years ago?

Also, my money was spent over a long period - not "$600-$1000" at once.
Big difference.

You're comparing apples and oranges. As I said, if I were in the market
NOW, I'd get a used G3 or G4 tower and upgrade that. I'd end up spending
about the same amount.

Anyways, for what I use it for, the G4/450 S900 is just fine. It's not my
main machine - or even my second machine. It's literally 3rd or 4th on the
list of machines that I use regularly here. There are several Windows XP
machines (tower and laptops) here that are on the top of the list. OS X is
OK, I just prefer XP for everyday use. The S900 spends 90% of it's time
running SETI.

My only interest was to check out OS X as cheaply as possible. I've done
that now, and I could even sell the S900 now without losing any sleep. The
fact that I managed to do it without sending any money to Apple was just
gravy!

Dan
