I'm confused are you having problems with your XLR8 G4 card or just 
disappointed that few apps make use of the extra processes with the G4?
You are correct that few apps make use of it. Photo shop, Quicktime and 
itunes come to mind. You can also add OSX to the list of things that 
run better with a G4. So if you ever decide to upgrade to the latest 
Mac OS that will run faster and better with a G4. The XLR8 card can 
also be over clocked and your 450mhz should be able to do 475 -480 no 
problem perhaps even 500mhz. Try doing that with a likely over clocked 
when you buy it Sonnet card. XLR8 cards currently have support from

XLR8 upgrade cards are some of the best ever made. History is full of 
good companies that go under when somehow mediocre companies keep on 
trucking.
If you are having problems with your XLR8 card other then the G4 
disappointment it may well be something that can be fixed. Best of
