There is an indicator led on the back of the card that should light and 
do various things to tell you what the hardware sees(eg 10bt or 100bt 
etc) unfortunately I don't recall what these are. Kennedy has the 
supermac insider site up, but not the knowledge base yet. If you have 
the original umax cd there should be a pdf on it detailing the 
troubleshooting of the e100. Those are the right extensions. Does your 
enet connection work with the built in 10bt port?
