Sorry about the mixup ;-)
I feel your pain what with still having a J700 with the 4 PCI slots! I
will have to find a S900 motherboard soon or maybe something else if
cheap enough. I'm an odd ball in the sense I love the shape of the J700
desktop case. I have never liked tower machines which most people seem
to. I understand the limits of the UMAX machines so well I hate to
change horses. I had to remove my 10/100 ethernet card in order to put
in a firewire card recently.
You could move to OSX and with the Sapphire Video card you won't need
the Wired4DVD card anymore.DVD works great in OSX with ATI cards. That
would clear up 2 slots! There are no perfect solutions it seems even if
you buy a new machine and spend tons of money.
By the way i've been running my flashed ATI PC 7000 32 mb card straight
now since Thursday the 20th (4 days and counting)and no issues nor
problems at all. There is even a program to turn on the Quartz engine
in OSX which moves over the PCI bus taking more load off the CPU.(which
Apple limits to the AGP bus) It speeds things up a bit and everything
has a very smooth fluid movement especially DVD & video in general. It
is said some setups could be limited by the video moving over the PCI
Bus but I've not yet seen that. Will S
