Greg,

I have the Sprintscan 4000 and every time this message has occured it
has been related to a SCSI problem. In several cases simply shutting
down, disconnecting the SCSI chain, restarting the computer, shut down
again, then reconnect the SCSI devices and start up - cures the problem.
My scanner has a termination switch on the back - if yours does make
sure it is in the right position. SCSI greminlins can be very vexing at
times.
