Well, if turning the port off in X didn't help, I'm in over my head. That fixed the problem I was having. As for taking the card out, I don't have a J700 (yet) so I can't speak to how easy it is if it doesn't just go in a slot. And of course anything that makes you lose other functionality would have to be something you could live without. I like serial ports. 8^)
Yes, I did leave the 10baseT in, as it's on the same card that has the serial ports for the machine on it. I did however, disable the built in network port in the network settings in OS X, and it doesn't seem to make a difference. Is taking that card out of the J700 something that would be easy and/or smart to do?
