I just bought a 5.25" generic firewire enclosure used but cannot seem to get
a hard drive to mount on my machine. It powers up just fine. Of course, it
mounts a cdrw just fine on a friend's G4 running OSX. Why not mine? :( I
didn't mean to hurt its feelings...

My other firewire drives mount just fine. I've tried all the utilities,
including HDST, HDTK Firewire Loader but nothing 'sees' it. I should have
borrowed his cdrw in case maybe the enclosure is particular and doesn't like
hard drives. I don't see why it should make any difference.

Does anybody know if there a flash rom or other drivers that might work on
generic drives? Is there something simple I am forgetting? Probably.

Any help is appreciated.
