Dan, I couple of points. "OS 9 Helper 1.0b7" has the feature of
downloading the needed OS 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 files for you. You just click
on the download 9.2.1 and 9.2.2. Works just fine and it does download
from the Apple web site.
If XPFacto doesn't work in OS 9.2.2 then something is wrong somewhere.
There should be no need to use 9.1 to run XPF. After installing 9.2.2
XPF window wouldn't open for me. Rebuilding the desktop fixed this for
me. This is done by holding down the "Apple +Option" keys at startup
until you get the "do you want to rebuild the desktop? " message. Click
on yes and let it do it's thing. Only takes maybe a min.
More then one person has had this problem not sure why. I no longer use
OS 9.x much only upgraded because of the new Radeon 7000 card which
needs the open gl from 9.2 to work correctly. I see no advantage over
9.1 in fact there have been several issues to solve with it for me. I
have as already said not used much and had found 9.1 to be really
solid. For some reason it won't boot the utility CD's that have 9.2 for
the system files on them. It crashes or freezes at some point in the
startup.I had to go back to my 9.1 copies. later Will S
