Hang on to the original processor.  I have a 9600 that was upgraded to 
a G3 a couple of years ago, and recently to a G4.  There have been two 
times where I had serious flakey issues with the 9600.  The only way I 
could get it to "come back to life" was to remove the processor upgrade 
and pop in the original processor (along with some other changes..)

We kept the c600's original processor for that same reason.

You just never know!
