Paul, As someone who has been working with lots of drives, I would recommend that if you were able to format it, you should run it through one or two utility programs. The Drive Setup Test Utility would be one, but I would recommend you also use either Norton or Techtool Pro, primarily what you want to watch is the Surface Scan portion. TTP has what seems to be a much better Surface Scan in the Individual Test area. I'm suggesting you do this just in case you have some media problem that escaped detection during format. If it hangs on the Surface Scan here, then there is something wrong with the drive.
