Sounds like you have the printer in a network, where it is "seen" by the C600 and other Macs. Is that right? Is it hooked up via Ethernet or directly to one of the machines and shared via Printer Sharing?
The Personal LaserWriter 300 is the Apple branded HP LJ4 something model. It is a serial only printer so it is directly connected to the printer port on the C600. The Printer Share extension (OS 9 on the C600) is active so the LaserWriter is visible on the network via the C600 seemingly by AppleTalk over Ethernet. That said, on a Win2k machine with AppleTalk turned on, the C600/printer is not seen. So the PC and the G4 essentially have the same behavior. But any OS 9/Classic machine picks up the printer without incident.
