"At one point" ... that does add to the confusion ... I started with the one with "mac7k.bin" or whatever in it's name on the PC and that went fine but left the card unable to be used in any computer. I understood that would be the case until it could be completed on the Mac side. During this first stage it was done in a compact Compaq that had motherboard video but the monitor was connected instead to the Sapphire. I tried both the downloadable ATi ROM Update from ATi's site as well as a very similar looking one Will graciously sent me. Althouth the Mac could always see the card in Apple System Profiler neither ROM updater would accept the card as valid I guess. >If youuse the full ROM file, then you don't need to flash anything on >the Mac side. Yes, and I found this out too late. Everything I'd read made it sound as if it could be done with relative ease via either method. >The PC will load the full 208 ROM into the card. This was the method >that I used, IIRC it was the most successful with the Sapphire 32MB >cards. Well, if I could turn back time ... this is where I am now, with a card in limbo I can't fix on the Mac side and worse, can no longer boot with on the PC side. >As for the PC not wanting to boot up. Why not just unplug and disconnect the HD, or is that not good enough on a PC? Or does a foreign video card screw up POST enough so that even a good HD now looks foreign too, and getting rid of said drive "fixes" it? Notice that at this point I've given up trying to make logical sense of this. 2nd question is, did the on board video still not work, or did you just use the other video card out of some other convenience? Just trying to squint at something to expect for my next go 'round at this. -David -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
