Hi......

I'm a 54 year old graphics designer who came 'late' to computers. I know how to do my
work... I just don't know much at all about how to get the machine to do the best it
can. I have a J700 with 'enough' ram (256 Mb) and an 18 Gig hard drive as the main
drive. I DON'T have anything to 'speed up' the computer (like the XLR8 upgrade I've
heard about).

I know that there are software products that will do things like 'defrag' my hard
drive and remove 'unnecessary' files (like duplicate files and leftovers from removed
programs). I just don't know what those programs are... or how to use them.

Would you please 'guide me'... or direct me to a site or sites that will 'gently' lead
me through the process of getting my computer up to speed. I know I must have a
ZILLION files that aren't necessary.

I'm guessing that most folks at this site know way more than I do... so 'posting' the
information might be uninteresting for them. Feel free to write to me directly.

Thanks...... Hal
